‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ Set New Record with Massive Rs 227 Crore Combined Weekend Collection

The first weekend at the box office has been a blast for ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, released on the occasion of Diwali. Both the films have given a tough competition to each other. There was a lot of talk about this biggest clash of the year. However, Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Singham Again’ has won the race of earnings. But here the talk is not about the competition between the two, but about a unique record. Both these films together have done a business of 227 crores in the country in the first weekend of three days. This is a new record for the highest earnings of the first weekend (Friday to Sunday) for Hindi cinema.

Earlier this record in the first weekend of three days was in the name of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ and Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ released last year. Both these films, released on 1 December 2023, had then made a net collection of Rs 202.13 crore in the country in the first weekend.

However, ‘Animal’ alone earned Rs 176.58 crore in the first weekend, compared to the Hindi version. While ‘Sam Bahadur’ did a business of Rs 25.55 crore. Obviously, ‘Singham Again’ or ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ are far behind ‘Animal’ in terms of earning alone, but together, both have definitely created a new record in Hindi cinema, which does not seem to be broken at the moment.

The budget of ‘Singham Again’, directed by Rohit Shetty, is Rs 400 crore. This film, adorned with seven superstars, has made a net collection of Rs 121.00 crore in the country in the first weekend. While ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, directed by Anees Bazmee, has made a net business of Rs 106.00 crore in its first weekend. The budget of this film is Rs 150 crore.

Interestingly, both the new films saw a drop in business on Sunday. However, this was expected. This is because due to Diwali, the earnings on Friday and Saturday were high. Still, both the films were successful in earning more than 30 crores on Sunday. ‘Singham Again’ earned 35 crores on the third day, Sunday, while ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ earned 33.50 crores.

In terms of franchise, ‘Singham Again’ has also become the biggest opening film of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham Franchise’. ‘Singham’, which was released in 2011, earned 30.99 crores in the first weekend and ‘Singham Returns’, which was released in 2014, earned 77.74 crores.

Similarly, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ is also the film with the strongest opening in its franchise. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, which came in the year 2007, earned Rs 14.37 crore in the opening weekend. While ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, which came out in 2022, did a business of Rs 55.96 crore.
