When Gurnam Bhullar sent an embarrassing message to Sonam Bajwa!
This film had Sargun Mehta with Gurnam Bhullar in the lead roles. The official debut film of Gurnam Bhullar was ‘Guddiyan Patole’ with Sonam Bajwa, but Surkhi Bidi was already planned by Jagdeep with Gurnam. Although Jagdeep got occupied in the making of the movie ‘Shadaa’ and suggested Gurnam to work on ‘Guddiyan Patole’ first. As Surkhi Bindi was already announced and Gurnam also wanted to do it, he and Jagdeep finally decided to start with this film. But even then, the female lead wasn’t signed yet. The team approached Sonam Bajwa, but since she was busy with a Bollywood project, she asked for some days to make a decision. The film was already running late so Jagdeep denied as they couldn’t afford any more delay. And then the proposal went to Simi Chahal and Sargun Mehta, but because Simi was busy in some promotional events, she couldn’t be a part of the film. And this was how Sargun Mehta got Surkhi Bindi.

ਗੁਰਨਾਮ ਭੁੱਲਰ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ‘ਗੁਡਿਆਨ ਪਟੋਲੇ’ ਸੋਨਮ ਬਾਜਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਸੁਰਖੀ ਬਿੰਦੀ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਜਗਦੀਪ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਜਗਦੀਪ ਨੇ ਫਿਲਮ ‘ਸ਼ਢਾ’ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁੱਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਇਸਲਈ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ‘ਗੁਡਿਆਨ ਪਟੋਲੇ’ ‘ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਅਤੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੁਰਖੀ ਬਿੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਨਾਮ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਗਦੀਪ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਫਿਲਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੀ, ਫਿਮਲ ਲੀਡ ਫਾਈਨਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਸੋਨਮ ਬਾਜਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਾਲੀਵੁੱਡ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਜ਼ੀ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤਕ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ। ਫਿਲਮ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੇਰ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਗਦੀਪ ਨੇ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਨ। ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼ ਸਿਮੀ ਚਾਹਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਗੁਣ ਮਹਿਤਾ ਕੋਲ ਗਈ, ਪਰ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਿਮੀ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਮੋਸ਼ਨਲ ਈਵੈਂਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਅਸਤ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਫਿਲਮ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੀ ਸੀ। ਆਖਿਰ ਸਰਗੁਣ ਮਹਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਖੀ ਬਿੰਦੀ ਮਿਲੀ।
ਚਾਹੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਫਿਲਮ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਫਿਲਮ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
