Where most of the actors charge huge amounts for a role in the film, and some of them refuse for getting less fees, actor Sonam Kapoor had accepted Rs 11 for her role in the biopic, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. That’s right. The actor, who teamed with filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra after Delhi 6 also starring Abhishek Bachchan, was offered that grand amount for her part. In the movie, she essayed the role of Biro, a muse of Milkha, played by Farhan Akhtar – a brief appearance. Talking about it, Mehra disclosed an interesting fact about why Sonam Kapoor chose that amount.
Mehra recently revealed, “Sonam Kapoor benevolently accepted to play a guest appearance for a princely sum of Rs. 11 only for her brief portrayal of Biro. Sonam understood that the film was not a love story – it was about a Partition survivor’s tryst with his horrific childhood, and that Isri Kaur, the sister, was his only connection to a past that he was reluctant to both own and discard.”
He further added, “She chose to accept Rs. 11. She had a special appearance in the film. Both of us shared an amazing journey with Delhi-6 before that. She told me that she needed just 7 days for the shoot and she praised us for trying to say something so beautiful, about the partition of this country and the spirit of Milkha Singh. So she wanted to contribute to the film as well. It was very nice of her.”
Moreover, the existence of Sonam Kapoor supported the film in terms of marketing. Also, some songs in the film gave the idea that the traditional romantic angle of the film is very much there.
