Student Leaders Lock Teachers Inside Hall Over Denied Holi Event Permission

In a shocking incident at the prestigious Government Holkar Science College in Indore, student leaders allegedly locked their teachers inside a hall and cut off the power supply after their request for permission to host a Holi event was denied. The event, which was planned for March 7, was to feature DJ performances and a ‘rain dance,’ with an entry fee of Rs 150. Despite the college administration rejecting the event, students proceeded to put up posters on campus advertising it.

The incident unfolded on Monday when the students, frustrated with the denial, locked the doors of a hall where teachers were present and severed the electricity supply. As a result, several teachers were confined inside for nearly half an hour while the students outside shouted slogans. A college employee, who was also trapped inside, managed to escape through a window and unlock the door, allowing the teachers to exit.

The district administration took immediate notice of the situation, with District Magistrate Ashish Singh calling the incident “extremely serious.” The college’s principal, Dr. Anamika Jain, filed a formal complaint, prompting an inquiry. An Additional District Magistrate (ADM) has been tasked with investigating the matter, and appropriate actions will be taken based on the report. No police case has been registered yet.

The Government Holkar Science College, which was established 133 years ago by the Holkar rulers of Indore, is known for its prestigious history and academic excellence.
