The money laundering case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar is continuing to be in the news. The legal case concerned with the laundering of a whopping 200 crores also involves the name of Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandes. The Ram Setu actress was allegedly dating Sukesh.
Though the couple never made the relationship public, now finally the con man has confessed about his relationship with the Bollywood diva. He has penned a handwritten letter which was recently released by his lawyer. In the letter, Sukesh defended his lady love and dubbed Jacqueline as innocent. He mentioned that she never asked for anything except for love from him.
As per a report in Hindustan Times, his letter could be read as, “It’s very, very unfortunate that Jacqueline has been made an accused in the PMLA (money laundering) case… We were in a relationship and if I have given her and her family gifts, what is their fault… She never asked me for anything except loving her and standing by her…”
Though Jacqueline has been granted interim bail, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed the same. The agency had said the actor never cooperated with the probe and only made the disclosure when confronted with evidence. ED had also said that Jacqueline appeared to be ‘deep-pocketed’, and therefore, could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
On the other hand, reacting to the letter by Sukesh Chandrasekhar, Jacqueline Fernandez’s lawyer Prashant Patil insisted ED to investigate fairly and find out the actual truth. He told ETimes, “If it is written by Sukesh Chandrasekhar, then the allegations made by him need to be seriously investigated, independently and fairly by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).”
It also mentioned, “The contents reveal that the investigation needs to take place on the facts revealed by him. His statement can be recorded under relevant provisions of the law and investigation can be carried out to find out the truth.”
Jacqueline was granted interim bail by Delhi High Court in the money laundering case associated with conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The investigation is ongoing, and apart from Jacqueline, Nora Fatehi’s name was also involved in the case.
