Supreme Court to Review Ranveer Allahbadia’s Passport Release Plea After Two Weeks

The Supreme Court on Tuesday stated it would review YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea for the return of his passport after two weeks, PTI reported. This decision followed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s update that the investigation could conclude within that period.

Senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, representing Allahbadia, argued that surrendering his passport was affecting his livelihood. He emphasized that his client frequently traveled abroad for interviews and meetings. To support his request, Allahbadia submitted an undertaking assuring the Supreme Court that he would “maintain decency in his shows,” PTI noted.

The bench expressed concerns that his international travel could impact the ongoing investigation and asked Mehta, representing Maharashtra and Assam, about the expected timeline for completion. Mehta, while stating he had not received specific instructions, estimated that the probe would wrap up in about two weeks, PTI reported.

Earlier, on March 3, the Supreme Court permitted Allahbadia to resume posting podcasts and content on social media. However, the court mandated that he provide an undertaking ensuring ‘morality and decency’ in his podcast, *The Ranveer Show*, making it appropriate for all audiences.
