Suspected Terrorist Planning Attack On Ayodhya’s Ram Temple Arrested with Grenades

A 19-year-old man, Abdul Rehman from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested Sunday night for allegedly plotting to attack the Ram Temple in Ayodhya with two hand grenades. His arrest followed a joint operation by the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) and Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), acting on intelligence inputs from central security agencies.

Rehman, who ran a meat shop and drove an auto-rickshaw, was reportedly trained by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Authorities believe he conducted multiple reconnaissance missions around the Ram Temple and shared critical information with the ISI. His plan involved meeting a handler in Faridabad, Haryana, to obtain the grenades before traveling to Ayodhya by train.

However, the police acted swiftly, apprehending him before he could carry out the attack. During the investigation, two grenades were recovered from an abandoned house near Pali village, approximately 12 km from Faridabad. Both explosives were successfully defused.

Following his arrest, Rehman was produced in court and remanded to 10 days of police custody. The Gujarat ATS has now taken him for further interrogation. Meanwhile, the investigation continues, with officials suspecting the involvement of other operatives. Raids are underway in Uttar Pradesh’s Balia district, where officers are probing potential connections to a Pakistani ISI operative known by the alias Ishika Kapoor. Authorities have also seized the phone of Rahul Singh, a Mumbai-based private shipping company employee from Bodia village, for questioning.
