In a heartbreaking moment captured on Instagram, actor Tanushree Dutta—who brought the #MeToo movement to India’s doorstep in 2018—has once again spoken out, this time in deep distress. In a tearful video now circulating widely on social media, the Aashiq Banaya Aapne star said she is being harassed in her own home and has finally reached out to the police for help.

“Mujhe mere hi ghar mein pareshaan kiya jaa raha hai,” Tanushree said, holding back tears. She added that although the police did visit her house and advised her to file an official complaint, she hasn’t been able to do so yet due to poor health. “Meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi hai. Main kuch kaam nahi kar paa rahi hoon,” she revealed in the video, sharing how the stress and trauma of the past several years have broken her both physically and mentally.
In the video, she explained how her home has become unbearable to live in. She believes that even the domestic staff who worked for her were not trustworthy. According to her, some maids were planted and were stealing from her. The situation has deteriorated so much that she can no longer manage the house nor hire help. “My house is a mess,” she said, adding that she feels cornered and alone.
Tanushree also mentioned loud banging noises that began around 2020. She initially tried to escalate the matter to her building authorities, but eventually gave up when nothing changed. The constant noise, fear, and stress, she said, have led to her developing chronic fatigue syndrome, triggered by extreme anxiety and trauma.
In her Instagram caption, she wrote, “I’m sick and tired of this harassment!! It’s been going on since 2018 #MeToo… Please someone help me.” The plea has sparked concern and sympathy across social media, reigniting conversations about the treatment of women who speak out against abuse in India.
This isn’t the first time Tanushree has been at the center of controversy. In 2018, she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss, a claim she first made back in 2008. Her brave stance became the catalyst for the #MeToo movement in Bollywood. However, in 2019, Patekar was given a clean chit by the Mumbai Police. Tanushree had also previously alleged that director Vivek Agnihotri asked her to strip and dance for a scene in Chocolate, which he has denied.
Tanushree’s latest video has reignited public attention on her safety and well-being, and many are now calling for swift action to ensure she receives the support and protection she needs.
