Team India Pays Tribute to Victims of Ahmedabad Plane Crash During Intra-Squad Match

Team India, led by Shubman Gill, paid a heartfelt tribute to the victims of the tragic plane crash that took place in Ahmedabad. Ahead of the intra-squad match in Beckenham, both the players and the support staff observed a minute’s silence to honour those who lost their lives. The players also wore black armbands during the game to show their respect and stand in solidarity with the grieving families.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared the emotional moment on social media, writing, “The players and members of support staff involved in the intra-squad game in Beckenham are wearing black armbands. A minute’s silence was also observed today to pay homage to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash, as a mark of respect for the lives lost and solidarity with the affected families.”

The tragic crash occurred on June 12, when an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner headed for London Gatwick crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. Out of the 242 passengers on board, only one person survived, making it one of the most heartbreaking incidents in recent times.

Meanwhile, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has returned to India due to a family emergency, leaving assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate in charge of the team during his absence.
