Telugu Film Shootings To Stop From August 1, Producers Plan Restructuring

The Telugu film producers have announced that the shootings of Telugu films will be stopped from August 1 as they’re planning to restructure the industry. Senior film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, on his Instagram handle, shared a press note written on the organization’s official letterhead which reads:

“Post-Pandemic with the changing revenue situations and increasing costs, it has become important for producers to discuss all the issues we are facing as a community of filmmakers. It is our responsibility to better our ecosystem and ensure that we are releasing our films in a healthy environment. In this regard, all producer members of the Guild have voluntarily decided to withhold shootings from August 1st 2022 to sit in discussions until we find workable resolutions.”

The producers in the Telugu Film Industry have been discussing the current situation for the past ten days. Many people have expressed worry about the OTT release window and how it is impacting the box office.

Low turnout of the audience in theatres has resulted in expensive tickets. The producers council therefore suggested reducing the rates to make it affordable for people from all sections. Except for a few, not many Telugu movies succeeded in theatres during the post-Covid era. As a result, the Producers have decided to meet and discuss various reforms to restructure the industry.
