Tesla Model Y lands in India priced at ₹60 lakh, bookings open now

Tesla officially enters India with the launch of its Model Y SUV, priced at ₹60 lakh for the base Rear-Wheel Drive and ₹68 lakh for the Long-Range variant. Bookings are now live through Tesla’s India website with a refundable token of ₹22,220. The first physical showroom, called an experience centre, opened this morning at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

The India-spec Model Y features a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, a full glass roof with UV and infrared protection, and standard over-the-air updates. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) add-on is available at ₹6 lakh but still requires active driver supervision. Deliveries are expected to start in Q3 2025, with fully built units imported from Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory.

Tesla’s pricing puts it squarely against luxury EVs like the BMW iX1 (₹66.9 lakh), Mercedes-Benz EQA (₹74.5 lakh), and Volvo XC40 Recharge (₹57.9 lakh). Import duties and logistics costs add about 70% to the base cost. Tesla is also negotiating duty concessions tied to future local assembly, possibly in Maharashtra or Gujarat.
