This 132 Years Old Wwoman From Punjab Says, “God Has Forgotten To Take Me Back”

Basant Kaur from Sabuwal village near Lohian, Jalandhar, whose family claims she is 132 years old, is proving a person is never too old to achieve goals.

Kaur’s great grandson Varinder Singh (27), who lives in Kapurthala, urges that her name be entered in the world record as the oldest woman on Earth. Moreover, the woman really deserves to hold this title as she has seen three centuries and is happily watching kids of her fifth-generation grow.

According to the documents of the elderly woman, her age is 124 years, but her voter ID card says her age, as of January 1, 1995, is 98 years.

The old lady has lost her vision and says, “I have lost my husband and five of nine children. I have even lost my eyesight but perhaps God has forgotten to take me back from this world.”

But, she proudly says that she is free from any illness. “My only problem is that I cannot see and I am a little hard of hearing. I enjoy taking sweets in all my meals. I take two chapatis along with a vegetable and curd. I am not taking any medicine even at this age,” she laughs with the number of wrinkles on her face and her eyes getting even more hollow.

Due to difficulty in hearing, Basant Kaur has to disseminate all questions through her daughter-in-law Kulwant Kaur, who believes that she is 132 years old and a proper age entry could not be made in the ID proof.

She is also very much aware of ongoing Covid Infection and talks about the pandemic. She can even walk with some support. Also, her neighbours enjoy listening to the pre-independence stories narrated by her.
