Three-Day-Old Baby Girl Abandoned in Basket in Navi Mumbai, Sorry Note Found

In a heartbreaking incident, a three-day-old baby girl was found abandoned in a blue basket on the roadside in Navi Mumbai’s Panvel area. The discovery was made on Saturday by a local resident in Takka Colony, who immediately informed the police.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found the newborn wrapped safely inside the basket, along with a handwritten note in English. The note, believed to be from the baby’s parents, expressed deep sorrow and helplessness. It said they were unable to raise the child due to severe financial difficulties. The parents apologised, writing that they had no other choice and were truly sorry for what they had done.

The police took the infant into their care and rushed her to a pediatrician for a check-up. Thankfully, doctors confirmed that the baby is healthy and stable.

Officials from the Panvel Town police station have registered a case against unknown persons under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abandoning the child. A search is now underway to trace the baby’s parents.

This emotional incident has touched many hearts, raising concerns about the struggles some families face and the difficult decisions poverty can force them to make.
