Three Indian Workers Abducted in Mali Attack, Government Working for Their Safe Return

Three Indian nationals working at a cement factory in Mali were kidnapped on July 1 after a group of armed men launched a coordinated attack on the facility. The incident happened at the Diamond Cement Factory in Kayes, a city in western Mali, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Tuesday.

The attack was part of a larger wave of violence that hit multiple government and military sites in western and central Mali on the same day. Terrorist groups are believed to be behind these attacks. The identities of the kidnapped Indian workers have not been shared yet, likely for security reasons.

India’s embassy in Bamako, the capital of Mali, is actively working with local authorities and the factory management. They are also in touch with the families of the victims and updating them regularly.

The Indian government has strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “deplorable act of violence.” They’ve urged the Malian government to take all possible steps to rescue the hostages quickly and safely. Senior officials from the MEA are closely monitoring the situation and are working through diplomatic and security channels to bring the abducted Indians home.
