Following the blockbuster success of ‘Animal’, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is now focused on his next major project, ‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas. While Deepika Padukone was initially in talks to play the female lead, the role has now officially gone to Triptii Dimri.
On Saturday, Vanga made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “The female lead for my film is now official :-).” Triptii also took to Instagram to express her gratitude, saying, “Still sinking in…. 😍 So grateful to be trusted with this journey 🙏🏻 Thank you @sandeepreddy.vanga ..honoured to be a part of your vision.”
Fans were quick to react with enthusiasm. One user commented, “Welcome to RebelWood.” Another said, “This is huge,” while a third added, “Deepika out, Triptii in!!! Vanga trusts her too much.” A fan simply wrote, “I’m screaming.”
Initially, Deepika Padukone was expected to share the screen with Prabhas in *Spirit*. However, according to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga got the shock of his life when Deepika Padukone refused to shoot for more than six hours a day for Spirit. That’s not all—the actress, via her agency, also began to demand amendments to the contract. Their main contention was simple: if the shoot extended beyond 100 days, Deepika would need to be paid extra for every single day beyond the agreed schedule.”
With Triptii officially on board, anticipation is building around how this fresh pairing will shape up in Vanga’s highly awaited film.
