Trump gains global backing for Nobel Peace Prize after Israel, Pakistan nominations

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been officially nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, gaining support from multiple countries including Israel and Pakistan. On July 7, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu surprised Trump with a nomination letter during a White House dinner. This follows Pakistan’s formal endorsement in June, recognizing Trump’s role in mediating a cease‑fire with India.

Netanyahu praised Trump for brokering the Abraham Accords and joint strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it “a victory for peace.” Pakistani officials credited him for preventing nuclear escalation in South Asia. U.S. Republican Representative Buddy Carter also nominated Trump, highlighting his role in securing an Israel–Iran cease‑fire. Anat Alon-Beck, a law professor in the U.S., submitted a separate nomination citing Trump’s mediation efforts. Trump, visibly pleased, called the support “very meaningful.”

Trump is seen as a serious contender due to real diplomatic moves—hostage deals in Gaza, nuclear de-escalation, and renewed Middle East talks. His campaign for the prize is also part of a broader strategy to shape his global legacy. Supporters say he deserves credit for action; critics call it political theatre. What’s your view—is this peace or PR?
