Ex-judge Giribala Singh during hearing in Twisha death case

The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday quashed the anticipatory bail granted to former judge Giribala Singh in the ongoing Twisha death case.

Twisha was found dead on May 12, while an FIR in the matter was registered on May 15. On the same day, a Bhopal trial court had granted interim anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh. Meanwhile, Samarth Singh, son of the retired judge, continues to remain in CBI custody in connection with the Twisha death case.

Justice Devanarayan Mishra of the Madhya Pradesh High Court set aside the bail order passed on May 15. The court observed that the allegations in the case were serious and noted a lack of cooperation during the investigation.

“The anticipatory bail order passed by the 10th Additional Sessions Judge, Bhopal, for offences punishable under Sections 80(2), 85, 3(5) of the BNS, 2023, and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, is hereby quashed,” the court stated while hearing the Twisha death case.

Victim’s Father Welcomes High Court Order

Following the court’s decision, victim’s father Navnidhi Sharma expressed gratitude towards the judiciary and everyone supporting the family’s legal fight.

Speaking to ANI, Sharma said the High Court’s order marked the beginning of justice in the Twisha death case. He also thanked the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of India for taking cognisance of the matter.

According to Sharma, the ongoing CBI probe is progressing in the right direction in the Twisha death case.
