Fresh allegations have surfaced in the Twisha Sharma death case after the victim’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, accused the 33-year-old of consuming marijuana during pregnancy and undergoing psychiatric treatment. Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her husband’s residence in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, and police are investigating the matter as a suspected dowry death in the ongoing Twisha Sharma death case.
Twisha’s husband Samarth and his mother Giribala Singh have been accused of murder and dowry harassment by the victim’s family. Her father, Navnidhi Sharma, alleged that his daughter faced indirect dowry pressure soon after marriage and claimed that tensions within the family began early.
Mother-In-Law Makes Serious Claims
During a press conference on Monday, Giribala Singh, a retired judge, claimed that Twisha had confessed to consuming large quantities of marijuana during pregnancy. She also alleged that Twisha was undergoing psychiatric counselling and had been prescribed medicines generally given to schizophrenia patients.
Singh further claimed that Twisha showed signs of instability and behavioural changes despite treatment. According to her, the family noticed trembling in Twisha’s hands, which she described as withdrawal symptoms.
The statements have added fresh controversy to the Twisha Sharma death case, which continues to remain under police investigation.
Allegations Against Victim’s Parents
Giribala Singh also targeted Twisha’s parents during the press conference. She alleged that they had pushed Twisha into the glamour industry at an early age and later distanced themselves from her.
“Twisha’s parents never came to see her during the last five months,” Singh claimed, adding that they were now refusing to allow her cremation. She said her family had supported Twisha through what she called a “mental training programme” and described the death as a major personal loss.
Meanwhile, Navnidhi Sharma has rejected the allegations and continues to seek action against the accused. Police have not officially verified the claims made by either side in the Twisha Sharma death case.
