Twitter Finally Replied To Indian Government’s Notice To Delete Thousands Of Twitter Accounts

Indian Government had asked Twitter to delete and restrict multiple twitter accounts which are spreading anti-national content and misleading information on January 31st, 2021. The number of accounts, Indian Government marked for this was more than a thousand.

The response from Twitter against it was much waited and is finally out. Twitter says that they have already removed many accounts which but they have not deleted the accounts of journalists, media organizations, politicians and activists as doing it would be violating their fundable right to speech and expression.

“Transparency is the foundation for promoting healthy public conversation. Following the reports of violence in recent weeks, we’re sharing a granular update on our proactive efforts to enforce our rules and defend our principles in India:”

Twitter wrote in a tweet while sharing the link to their official blog post.

One of their statements says, “We informed MeitY of our enforcement actions today, February 10, 2021. We will continue to maintain dialogue with the Indian government and respectfully engage with them.”
