Two Terrorists K*lled in Baramulla After Pahalgam Attack, PM Modi Cuts Saudi Visit

Two terrorists were eliminated in a fierce exchange of fire with security forces in the Uri area of Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army confirmed on Monday. This operation follows closely after the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

The Army reported that the encounter began on Wednesday when around two to three terrorists tried to infiltrate through the Sarjeevan region along the Uri Nala in Baramulla.

Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said in a post on X, “Heavy exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists, two terrorists have been eliminated, infiltration bid foiled by the security forces in the ongoing Operation in Baramulla.”

A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other war-like supplies were recovered from the site. The operation is still ongoing, the X post further mentioned.

This development came just a day after the terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals and left several others injured. The attack occurred at Baisaran meadow, a scenic location often dubbed as ‘mini Switzerland.’

In response to the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to Delhi on Wednesday morning, cutting short his official visit to Saudi Arabia. He had been in the kingdom for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Immediately upon his return, PM Modi met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He also skipped the official dinner hosted by the Saudi government and advanced his return, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday night.
