Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has resumed issuing electronic visas (e-Visas) for foreign nationals from 45 countries, including India, Bhutan, Maldives, and Nepal. Starting February 19, 2025, the General Department for Consular Service will process e-Visa applications for various purposes, such as tourism, business, education, journalism, sports, and medical treatment.
The e-Visa system offers two types: a single-entry visa for USD 20 and a double-entry visa for USD 30. For urgent processing, the fee is doubled, with standard applications taking three working days and urgent ones processed in a day. This move aligns with Ukraine’s diplomatic and economic goals, strengthening ties with key partners like India.
Over the years, India and Ukraine have developed a strong relationship in sectors such as trade, agriculture, defense, education, and culture. India recognized Ukraine’s independence in 1991, and both nations established diplomatic ties soon after. Cultural exchanges have flourished, with Ukrainian institutions like Taras Shevchenko National University offering Hindi courses and the Ukrainian Association of Ayurveda and Yoga promoting alternative medicine practices like Ayurveda.
In 2020, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was unveiled in Kyiv, symbolizing the enduring friendship between the two nations. Ukraine’s decision to reintroduce e-Visas further enhances bilateral cooperation, facilitating smoother travel for Indian nationals and reinforcing the positive diplomatic and cultural connections between the two countries.
