US DNI Tulsi Gabbard Visits Indo-Pacific, Strengthening Ties With India and Allies

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has begun a multi-nation visit to the Indo-Pacific region, covering Japan, Thailand, and India. Her trip is focused on strengthening diplomatic ties and open communication, aligning with US President Donald Trump’s vision of peace, freedom, and prosperity.

Gabbard’s journey started in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she met with Intelligence Community (IC) partners, leaders from INDOPACOM, and US troops engaged in training exercises. Announcing her trip on X (formerly Twitter), she emphasized the importance of building strong international relationships, stating:

“I am #WheelsUp on a multi-nation trip to the Indo-Pacific, a region I know very well having grown up as a child of the Pacific. I’ll be going to Japan, Thailand, and India, with a brief stop in France enroute back to DC. Building strong relationships, understanding, and open lines of communication are vital to achieving President Trump’s objectives of peace, freedom and prosperity. First stop: Honolulu where I’ll visit IC partners and INDOPACOM leaders, and our troops engaging in training.”

Strengthening US-India Relations

Gabbard’s visit to India marks a significant diplomatic step, as it is the first high-level White House visit to the country under the Trump administration. Her arrival follows Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to the United States in February, during which he met with Gabbard and described her as a “strong votary” of India-US friendship.

During Modi’s visit, Gabbard expressed her appreciation for the India-US partnership, calling it an “honour” to welcome the Indian Prime Minister and reaffirming her commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

This visit is particularly notable as it comes shortly after Donald Trump assumed office for his second term as the 47th President of the United States. Modi’s trip to the US was among the first by a world leader following Trump’s inauguration, highlighting the importance of India-US relations in the new administration’s foreign policy.

When Modi met President Trump at the White House, the two leaders shared a warm embrace, underscoring their commitment to deeper cooperation. Modi’s visit took place just three weeks into Trump’s second term, reflecting the high priority both nations place on their strategic partnership.

Gabbard’s ongoing tour highlights the US’s dedication to fostering ties with Indo-Pacific nations, strengthening cooperation, and ensuring regional stability.
