US Urges Peace, Speaks to Jaishankar and Shehbaz; ISI Chief Becomes Pakistan NSA

As tensions simmer between India and Pakistan, the United States has stepped in, urging both nations to avoid escalation and maintain peace. In a series of high-level diplomatic conversations, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reached out to India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and restraint amid rising hostilities in the region.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has made a major internal move by appointing Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum, the current head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), as the new National Security Advisor (NSA). The appointment signals Islamabad’s intent to streamline its security strategies amidst growing challenges on both domestic and international fronts.

The U.S. intervention comes at a crucial time when cross-border incidents and strong rhetoric have raised alarms globally. Washington has reiterated its commitment to regional stability and its readiness to support any steps taken by both governments to ease tensions.

With an intelligence chief now leading Pakistan’s national security policy and India closely monitoring developments, all eyes are on how the diplomatic balance unfolds in South Asia. The U.S. continues to maintain close communication with both nuclear-armed neighbours to prevent any further escalation.
