Passengers on a Delhi-bound Vande Bharat train had a rough time when the air conditioning stopped working and water started leaking from the ceiling. The uncomfortable journey left many frustrated, especially since they had paid a premium fare expecting a smooth ride.
One of the passengers, Darshil Mishra, shared his experience on social media platform X. He posted a video showing water pouring down from a ceiling vent inside the train coach. Despite raising multiple complaints, he said no action was taken by the railway staff.
“AC not working and water leakage in #VandeBharat train. Extremely uncomfortable journey despite premium fare. Multiple complaints lodged but no action taken. Kindly look into it,” Mr Mishra wrote in a post that also showed a drenched seat near the coach gate.
In another post, he asked for a refund, calling out the staff’s poor response.
“Nothing is happening, all the staffs are irresponsible. Despite of several complaints no action taked, Ac temperature is too high. I want my full refund,” he said.
After the video gained attention online, Railway Seva responded. They explained that the issue was due to “condensate water” and confirmed that the drip tray had been cleaned at New Delhi station before the train’s return trip. A washer was also added below the filter to help water drain properly.
Officials further mentioned that the coach had already been checked during a pre-monsoon maintenance drive held between May 15 and May 27. Now, all cooling units in the train are being reviewed again to make sure similar problems don’t happen in the future.
