If you’re keeping a strict eye on the updates of Commonwealth Games 2022, you must know it’s raining medals for India this time. And Vikas Thakur is also one of the winners who has made the nation proud.
Vikas Thakur won a silver medal in weightlifting by lifting a total of 346kg (155kg+191kg). His personal best to date has been 353kg (157+197) which he achieved at the EGAT Cup in Thailand.
But have you come across to know that Vikas is a huge admirer of Sidhu Moosewala? Vikas, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, stated that “I’ve never met him but his songs will remain with me forever. Even before coming to the competition, I was listening to his numbers.”
Not only this, but after lifting the heavyweight in his second attempt, Vikas paid tribute to Sidhu Moosewala with his signature ‘Thigh-five’ (thaapi). And the video of the same is going viral on social media.
Not only this, but he has also shared a fan-made poster of him standing beside Sidhu Moosewala on his Instagram account.
Vikas even reached for Commonwealth Games listening to Sidhu Moosewala’s music and also revealed that he was shattered after the singer’s murder. “I did not eat for two days (after his death),” said Yadav during an interaction with PTI after winning his second CWG silver.
“I will always be a big fan of his. He always would say ‘jor bina patta de thapi bajti na’ on the thigh five (you have to give it your all to achieve something). I never met him but he will always remain my all-time favourite singer. His songs are always on my phone. Happy or sad, he (his numbers) always keeps me going.”
Vikas also stated that Sidhu Moosewala’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ is his current favourite when he’s down.
