Virat Kohli’s old problem of getting out to balls outside the off-stump came back again in the IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings on Thursday. He started well and looked in good form but was out for just 12 runs. Kyle Jamieson bowled a length ball just outside off-stump, and Kohli edged it to wicketkeeper Josh Inglis.
Jamieson has troubled Kohli before in Test matches, and this dismissal reminded many fans of how Kohli got out in the 2021 World Test Championship Final. Because of this repeated mistake, Kohli is now getting trolled heavily on Twitter. Many people are saying he still hasn’t fixed his weakness outside the off-stump.
Meanwhile, it was a great day for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Their bowlers completely dominated Punjab Kings. Suyash Sharma took 3 wickets for 17 runs, and Josh Hazlewood took 3 for 21. Punjab’s strong batting lineup was bowled out for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal, and Romario Shepherd also did well and took 4 wickets together.
Thanks to this strong bowling performance, RCB easily won the match and reached their fourth IPL final. But even with the win, Kohli’s early dismissal became the big talking point online, with fans questioning his repeated mistake.
