In a landmark achievement, Virat Kohli has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the first player to accumulate 9,000 T20 runs for a single franchise. This milestone was reached during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) final league match of IPL 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants.
Kohli’s innings of 54 runs off 30 balls not only contributed to RCB’s successful chase of 228 but also marked his 63rd IPL half-century, surpassing David Warner’s previous record. His consistent performance has been a cornerstone for RCB, with his run tally comprising 8,606 runs in the IPL and 424 in the now-defunct Champions League T20, totaling 9,030 runs for the franchise .
This season, Kohli has amassed over 600 runs, marking the fifth time he has achieved this feat in an IPL season, a record in itself . His unwavering commitment to RCB since the league’s inception in 2008 has made him a fan favorite and a symbol of loyalty in the sport.
RCB’s victory in this match secured them a spot in Qualifier 1, setting up a clash with Punjab Kings. As the playoffs approach, Kohli’s form and leadership will be pivotal for RCB’s quest for their maiden IPL title.
