Vivek Agnihotri has marked a very special place for himself in the Bollywood Film Industry after the massive success of his recent film The Kashmir Files. The film broke the box office and went on to earn crores. Though both critics and the public were divided when it comes to the film’s review, no one can question the film’s powerful win at the box office.
Since then, Vivek Agnihotri has been loud and vocal about his opinions and bashing the biggies of Bollywood. He has criticized and bashed various filmmakers for what he feels is wrong. And recently also, he appeared in an interview with Brut India where he openly talked about so many things.
But what caught our attention was his remarks on Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee With Karan. In the interview, Vivek was asked if he will even make an appearance in Johar’s Koffee With Karan. Though Vivek did not refuse, he went on to say the possibilities are always there. But he also did not shy away from being upfront about his honest opinion about the KWK.
He replied and said, “It depends. I mean if the kind of show it is right now, definitely I won’t go because I have nothing to contribute. I am more than a middle-aged man now. I have two kids. So, s*x is not the primary concern of my life. And I’ll feel odd sitting over there because it is so artificial.”
He went on the comment on Karan Johar and his show; Koffee With Karan’s obsession with celebrities’ sex lives. He took a dig and said, “I am very spiritual I am not such an s*x-centered person though I enjoy it with my wife. It’s not that my life revolves only around s*x and who’s ditching who and who’s sleeping around with who.” Adding “I think it’s a bullshit programme also. What is it doing? Nobody relates to it. You’re doing it only for your inner circle, for your friends and just make each other happy and some channels are paying for it.”
The Kashmir Files director then also went on to question the popularity of the show. He expressed that he feels Koffee With Karan is not a show for the general public. Only the high standard people, and celebrities watch it.
Agnihotri organized his words like, “How many people are watching? You think it’s a niche. It is watched most by media people and celebs and all those. It is catering to that market. It is like very high-fashioned, high-ended niche, a boutique shop kind of thing. So it is not a popular show. Why is it on air? The day I am as powerful as Karan Johar maybe I will have 80 seasons not 7.”
On being asked about what makes Karan Johar so popular and big, Vivek concluded by stating “You have two big successful films and you have all the stars on your hotline.”
Well, Vivek Agnihotri surely is not the only person who has taken shots at Koffee With Karan’s sex obsession. Earlier, Taapsee Pannu had also released a similar kind of statement. While promoting her recent movie Dobaara, Taapsee was asked if she was invited to KWK. To this, the actress said that maybe her sex life is not enough interesting for the show.
