SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali and Baahubali 2 are some of the biggest hits in the history of Indian cinema. Netflix was all set to launch its own adaptation of the Bahubali series, the film was titled as “Bahubali : Before the Beginning” and Mrunal Thakur was to play the lead role of Sivagami Devi. But according to a report by Bollywood Hungama, she has been replaced by Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi.
The show will focus on the events before the Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2 : The conclusion and the life and the rise of Sivagami Devi, a significant character in the Baahubali series. Mrunal Thakur was the initial choice of the filmmakers for the lead role but they decided to scrap the project. The team did not like how the film was shaping despite shooting almost 70% of it. And now, the team has decided to put everything back and finally make the project a reality but with a completely new cast. As per the new cast. Wamiqa Gabbi has been chosen to play the role of Sivagami Devi in place of Mrunal.
Mrunal was replaced owing to absence of dates for shooting with her. Wamiqa is a leading actress in the Pollywood industry and has also made some cameos in previous Bollywood films. Now, she is finally set to play the role in the 9-episode show.
