American Idol 19 runner-up Willie Spence dies in a car accident  at the age of 23.

Willie Spence died on Tuesday from injuries sustained in a car  crash in Tennessee.

As per a TMZ report, Willie had a flat tire at some point Tuesday, but allegedly got it fixed and continued to drive back home to Atlanta  from Tennessee.

The report also read that Spence crashed into a tractor trailer that was parked on the side of the road.

The fan-favorite “Idol” contestant was the runner-up in the competition program‘s 19th season last year.

Katharine McPhee, who mentored & performed with Spence during American Idol Season 19, mourned the singer's death on Instagram.

“We are devastated about the passing of our beloved American Idol family member, Willie Spence,” read a statement on the American Idol Instagram page.

“He was a true talent who lit up every room he entered and will be deeply missed. We send our condolences to his loved ones,” the statement  further read.

Katy Perry commented on the post, “I love you Willie….Purest soul. Sing with the angels my darling.”

Willie Spence also posted a video of singing with his heart out, just hours before his death.
