Former UP CM & Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav
at the age of 82.
He passed away while undergoing treatment at Medanta hospital in Gurugram on Monday.
His condition had been “quite critical” for the past few weeks & was on
life-saving drugs.
Mulayam’s son Akhilesh confirmed the news of his father’s death on Twitter.
He tweeted “
Mere adarniya pitaji aur sabke netaji nahi rahe – Akhilesh Yadav
.”
Soon after learning about the demise of the veteran leader, PM Narendra Modi also offered condolences
to the leader's death.
PM Modi wrote, "Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji was a remarkable personality."
Born on November 22, 1939, Mulayam Singh Yadav became a prominent
face in Indian politics.
He served as the chief minister of the most populous State, U.P., 3 times (1989-91, 1993-95, & 2003-2007).
He was elected as MLA 10 times and Lok Sabha MP 7 times. He also served as Indian defence minister from
1996-1998.
