On September 13, 2022, Mahsa Amini, a 22-year old Iranian woman was arrested for violating Hijab regulations.

Three days later, the news came out that Mahsa died due to a  heart failure.

Reportedly, Amini fell into a coma & died while waiting with other women held by the police.

Her suspicious death in Iranian police custody sparked anger in public.

People across Canada, Iran & elsewhere are protesting & questioning Iranian  police morality.

However, Iranian police have denied mistreating Amini and claim she died of a heart attack. The country’s authorities say they are investigating.

UN acting High Commissioner for Human Rights Nada Al-Nashif has called for a "prompt, thorough, impartial investigation."

The protest seeking Justice for Mahsa outraged the public. Some protesters have even cut their hair in protest.

According to Aljazeera, first death in the protest also has been reported  on Tuesday.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is set to speak this week at the UN General Assembly in New York, as several Western governments have demanded Iran’s accountability.
