1.Pr*stitution is legal but…

On 19 May, 2022, the Supreme Court of India made pr*stitution legal in India but under some circumstances. As per the new law, pr*stitution in India is legal if it is done privately but soliciting it, doing it publicly, or owning a brothel are illegal.

2. Survive a suic*de and go to jail

Suic*de is illegal and a punishable offense in India. Under the IPC section 309, if an individual tried an unsuccessful attempt of suic*de, he/she will be punished with imprisonment or capital fine or both.

3. Soldiers can’t use knives

According to the Indian constitution, Indian soldiers are prohibited to use knives in battles. However, this rule is not applicable to soldiers in Nagaland as knives are considered as traditional weapons in Nagaland.

4. Flying kite without permit is a crime

According to the Aircraft Act 1934, flying kites without permission from the Indian police is a legal offense. If you do this, you can be punished with 2 years of imprisonment or a fine of up to ₹10 lakh. Things like airships, balloons, kites, gliders as well as flying machines are also included in this act.

5. Third child is illegal 

If you live in Kerala, you are allowed to have only two children. On having a third child, you will have to pay a fine of ₹10,000 and also you will not get the benefit of the government scheme. In view of the increasing population of the country, the country needs such a law. So if you’re from Kerala, you must use contraceptives after two children.

6. White teeth for the job

According to the Indian Motor Vehicle Act 1974, your teeth are required to be sparkling white to become a motor vehicle inspector in Andhra Pradesh. Otherwise you cannot do this job.

7. P*rn*graphy is illegal but

According to the Information Technology Act (IT act) 2000, online p*rnography is illegal, but you can watch it alone. In the past few years, the government has taken several steps to ban adult content from the Internet.

8. Obscenity is a crime but what does it mean?

According to section 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), if a person says anything obscene socially or does obscene act, then a provision of punishment has been kept for him. The surprising thing in this is that what is an obscene word, it has not been defined yet.

9. No drinking age

In India there’s no fixed age for the consumption of alcohol legally. In some states the minimum legal age for the consumption of alcohol is 25 years, whereas, some states allow its citizens to consume alcohol legally after turning 21.

10. Only India Post service can deliver letters

According to the Indian Post Office Act 1898, only India Post can deliver the letter to your address. The courier companies who call letters as documents, only they get the right to deliver it. However, it has been more than 120 years since this law was made. It seems like a strange law, which no one pays much attention to anymore.
