The horrific murder of Sidhu Moosewala on 29 May was followed by an equally horrific announcement. A red corner notice allows the detention and even the arrest of a country’s fugitive residing abroad. This means that the Red Corner Notice would empower Punjab Police to take legal actions against Goldy Brar, extradite him back to India and even arrest him.

Goldy Brar, who has been identified as Satinderjit Singh could have been brought back to India even before the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. The Police revealed that they had sought a Red Corner Notice against Goldy Brar on 19 May in two separate cases registered against him in Faridkot. Two cases were registered against him on November 2020 and February 2021 under the charges of murder, attempt to murder and the Arms Act.

The Punjab Police had sent a proposal to the CBI on 19 May seeking Goldy Brar’s extradition. However, the CBI did not respond to the proposal and 10 days later, Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead at Mansa. An official spokesperson has revealed that the Punjab Police is leaving no stones unturned in bringing the Canada-based gangster back to India.
