The Kerala Story opened in theaters on May 5, 2023, despite the controversies surrounding the movie’s plot. The film stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani.
The movie caused significant commotion in India, where the government of West Bengal has banned it, and multiplex owners in Tamil Nadu have stopped showing it because of problems with law and order. However, the film is exempt from state sales taxes in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, among other states.
And now, according to the latest news, the OTT rights of The Kerala Story have reportedly been sold to a leading online streaming service already. According to reports of Jagaran, Zee5 has acquired the OTT rights to The Kerala Story, and the movie’s OTT launch is expected in the third week of June.
On the other hand, the creators have not yet made any official statements regarding this. In addition, on May 12, The Kerala Story will premiere internationally in the United Kingdom and France.
According to the makers of “The Kerala Story,” up to 32,000 girls from Kerala left the state to join the terrorist group ISIS, which has its headquarters in Syria.
However, the makers altered the description following a social media controversy over the film’s trailer and description. Rather than 32,000, the “modified” update of the “description” on social media now states “three girls.”
Sudipto Sen wrote and directed the movie, along with Suryapal Singh and Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who wrote the script and plot. However, the film has earned approximately Rs 8 crore, making it the fifth-highest opening day for a Hindi film. Moreover, the movie has received an 8.2 rating from IMDb.
