The release date of the movie ‘83’ is round the corner and the entire nation is waiting for the film to release on the silver screen. The film is based on India’s victory in the 1983 cricket World Cup. In the film, Ranveer Singh essays the role of Captain Kapil Dev, while Harrdy Sandhu will be seen as bowler Madan Lal. Ammy Virk will also play a pivotal role in the film as Balvinder Sidhu.
But as the release date of the movie is very near, we have a very interesting fact which you definitely should be aware of. Kapil Dev recollected how Madan Lal, a medium pacer, literally took the ball from his skipper with the conviction that he can get the legendary Vivian Richards out. Moreover, Madan, before that over was dispatched distrustfully for three boundaries by Richards and West Indies, were in pursuit of a modest target of 184.
A video is surfacing all over the social media, where Harrdy is seen convincing Ranveer to let him bowl despite being hit out of the boundary.
The reason behind this specific conversation has been unveiled by Kapil Dev where he said, “Before that particular over, two-three fours were hit off Madan. So I went to Madan and asked him to take a break and come back after a few overs. To which Madan said ‘Kapil Pa, you give me the ball. I have earlier dismissed Vivian Richards, I can do it once more.”
He added, “When a player is so confident, even though I was not too keen, I thought, let him bowl another over. They say, “some things just happen for you and this happened with us.”
It’s very amusing that Lal’s revenge against Vivian Richards made him the highest impact bowler of the 1983 World Cup. While India had played against all odds and reached the final, Madan Lal had a bad spell and was not supposed to bowl the over that won us the World Cup.
