Who Is India’s Most Bankable Star? Not SRK, Prabhas or Even Rajinikanth

For over three decades, the three Khans — Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan — have been the pillars of Indian cinema. Along with them, South stars like Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, and Prabhas have delivered massive blockbusters. But now, a new name seems to be taking the lead. In 2025, one actor has projects lined up with budgets that beat all others combined.

Who is the most bankable star in India right now?

Ranbir Kapoor has quietly become the most in-demand actor in the country. Thanks to the success of Brahmastra and Animal, producers are betting big on him. His upcoming films have a combined budget that crosses over 5000 crore rupees, more than any other actor in India right now.

Ranbir’s upcoming movies and their massive budgets

Ranbir is currently shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, which has a budget of around 200 crore.

He also has sequels lined up:

  1. Animal Park, the follow-up to Animal, is being made on a scale even bigger than the first.
  2. Brahmastra Part Two is expected to cross a 400 crore budget.

But the biggest of them all is the two-part Ramayana, where he plays Lord Ram. The combined budget of both parts is around 4300 crore rupees. These films also star Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, and are expected to be India’s most expensive movie project ever.

Who has Ranbir overtaken?

The total cost of Ranbir’s upcoming movies is already over 5000 crore rupees.

In comparison:

  1. Shah Rukh Khan’s next film, King, is reportedly budgeted at 350 crore.
  2. Salman Khan’s Galwan Valley also stands at around 350 crore.

Aamir Khan has not announced his next film yet. Prabhas, who has three big movies lined up — The RajaSaab, Fauji, and Spirit — has a combined total budget of under 1000 crore. Only Yash, Ranbir’s co-star in Ramayana, comes close with another film called Toxic that’s being made for 200 crore. Ranbir Kapoor, who once struggled with box office consistency, is now leading the pack. In 2025, the numbers make it clear — he might just be the biggest star in the country right now.
