Sabih Khan, a 58-year-old Indian-American from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, will become Apple’s Chief Operating Officer in late July 2025. He steps into the role after Jeff Williams, who has served as COO since 2015, announced his retirement by the end of the year. Apple confirmed the leadership transition on July 8 at its headquarters in Cupertino.
Khan joined Apple in 1995 after working at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer. He later rose to Senior Vice President of Operations in 2019. Since then, he has overseen Apple’s global supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, and environmental programs. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was raised in Singapore before moving to the United States for college.
Tim Cook praised Khan as a brilliant strategist and key architect of Apple’s operations. Under Khan’s leadership, Apple reduced its carbon footprint by more than 60 percent and expanded its manufacturing efforts in the US. His appointment comes at a crucial time as Apple moves more production to India and the US amid global supply chain shifts.
