Woman Shares Disturbing Experience with Creepy Recruiter Asking Inappropriate Requests for PA Role

Reddit has recently become a go-to platform for employees to share their work-related issues and concerns, with several subreddits created for individuals to anonymously discuss their experiences and connect with others facing similar challenges. One such post by a woman from Noida has gained significant attention after she described a troubling encounter with a recruiter for a personal assistant position.

In her post titled “Am I in the wrong for feeling creeped out over this?”, the woman shared a screenshot of her WhatsApp exchange with the recruiter. What began as a straightforward conversation about salary soon took a disturbing turn. The applicant asked, “In-hand or CTC? Is there any room for negotiation?” to which the recruiter responded with an inappropriate request: “If you don’t mind, can you send one full pic?” Despite her polite refusal, the recruiter continued to push for more personal information, even asking for her Instagram profile to “show your personality for PA profile.” The woman, maintaining her professionalism, responded, “My Instagram profile is private. May I ask why is that relevant?” and suggested that any questions be addressed in a formal interview.

In the post’s caption, she expressed her frustration: “Applied for a job in Noida in the role of a Personal Assistant. The pay is good but the person/recruiter is being extremely creepy. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the industry norm. Before this convo, he even asked me if I was married! This is so disheartening.”

The post quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage. One user suggested, “Post on LinkedIn… tag the bard and the company. He’s probably done it before and he’ll do it again.” Another commenter agreed, calling the recruiter “100% creep and unprofessional,” advising the woman not to engage further. A third user, identifying as an HR professional, firmly stated, “This is completely unacceptable behaviour. Please report them.” Others also urged the woman to raise awareness, with one user recommending, “Please post it on LinkedIn and spread awareness. This bard & his colleagues who are promoting his behaviour should realise the gravity of their acts. They really think they can get away from all of this and there would be no consequences. Spreading the message will save the other innocent souls also who might fall prey to this.”
