After Bachchan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar, the “Khiladi” of bollywood, is preparing for the premiere of Raksha Bandhan, a movie about the relationship between siblings. However, the hashtag #BoycottRakshaBandhanMovie has been trending on Twitter, as the netizens have been continuously criticizing Kanika Dhillon, the co-writer of Raksha Bandhan, on some of her past tweets.
In 2021, during the Covid-19 crisis when the people were dying due to the oxygen shortage, Kanika Dhillon, quoting the news of “The Wire”, tweeted:
“Dying in the parking lot after waiting for a hospital bed….. Yeh ache din hai ! 🙏🙏 ! India superpower hai! Aur gau mata ka mutra peene se Covid chala jayega! #NewIndia #COVID19India #OxygenCrisis #IndiaNeedsOxygen #helpindia”
Many of the netizens didn’t like her tweet, claiming that she had mocked the holy Gau Mata. The people across the media have now started quoting this tweet from 2021, calling Kanika, the co-writer of movie Rakshabandhan, an anti-Hindu. In another such tweet, in a reply to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s tweet, Kanika quoted:
“Gau mata ka apmaan nahi sahega Hindustan! #lynchistan! Gau Mata is horrified N tired! She wants 2 migrate 2 U.S n willing 2 tolerate TRUMP! As long as HINDUSTAN can restore its PEACE, COMMON SENSE n HUMANITY! Modi ke #NewIndia ki [email protected]”
Even the netizens are claiming, citing the screenshots of her old tweets, that she had been a supporter of the Anti-CAA protest, and even backed Rhea Chakraborty, late Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend. However, Kanika has deleted several old tweets, but still, it’s too late as netizens have the screenshots.
Tweet by a user named Krishna Gajre, reads:
“Only way to show these bollywoodiyas is to #BoycottbollywoodForever because you’ll find Hinduphobic people like #KanikaDhillon in every corner. Just don’t waste your money on them and make sure you and your friends #BoycottRakshaBandhanMovie #RakshaBandhan11August #RakshaBandhan”
After Amir Khan starrer Lal Singh Chadha’s boycott, people across the social media platforms, calling the boycott of Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, has feared the movie makers and its entire cast.
