Sandipan Garg Was Present At The Yacht Party

Sources revealed that Sandipan had accompanied Zubeen Garg to Singapore for the North East India Festival — which tragically became the singer’s final trip. It was also Sandipan’s first international tour. He was present at the yacht party where the 52-year-old singer went for a swim before being found floating face down in the water.

After the incident, Sandipan returned to India with some of Zubeen Garg’s belongings. Despite claiming full cooperation with the SIT through a Facebook post, he was arrested on Monday. When questioned about why Sandipan hasn’t been suspended yet, Special DGP Munna Gupta, who heads the SIT, said further action will be taken by the concerned department.

Earlier Arrests In The Zubeen Garg Case

Before Sandipan’s arrest, four others were already in custody — Zubeen Garg’s bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, and North East India Festival manager Shyamkanu Mahanta.

All five accused have been charged with murder, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence. The arrests have added further mystery and speculation around the untimely demise of Zubeen Garg, who was one of Assam’s most celebrated musicians.
