Taliban Accused Of Removing Nishan Sahib From Gurdwara In Afghanistan, Taliban Denies Claim

Nishan Sahib, regarded as the symbol of Khalsa Panth, generally hoists at the highest point of a Gurdwara Sahib with the help of a long flagpole. The flag is worshipped by people and identified as a symbol of sanctity.

A shocking news has come out of Paktia, Afghanistan. Taliban, an Afghanistan based terrorist organization, has been accused of dislodging the Nishan Sahib from the Gurdwara Tahla Sahib, Chamkani in the Paktia region of Afghanistan.

Gurdwara Tahla Sahib is an important landmark in the Sikh history as the historical Gurdwara was also visited by the first Guru of the Sikh religion, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Taliban has been accused of causing violence, terrorism and country-wide war in Afghanistan leading to deaths of thousands.

Their latest action has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh religion all over the world. Last year, Taliban had also abducted a Sikh Man from the same Gurdwara Sahib, named Nedan Singh Sachdeva.

Though the news has spread worldwide of the distressing action of the militant organization, Taliban has denied these claims. The official spokesperson of Taliban for International media and a member of the negotiations team, Suhail Shaheen spoke to WION news and denied the accusations. He said that the Taliban is always committed to the rights of minorities in the country. This is their primary policy and by no means can they go against it and hurt the sentiments of Sikhs. Though it is still unknown if what Suhail Shaheen said is true.
