Safety Line, Unexpected Route Notice & More: UBER Releases New Security Features

Uber is one of the most used ride-hailing companies in India. Every day, lakhs of people book UBER drives and rides to commute to different locations. And to stay people’s favorite, Uber has recently released some new security features for Indian customers.

One of the most talked about new features of Uber is a notification that will pop on the customer’s phone as soon as the driver takes an unexpected route. This is not all, as Uber has released some more really helpful and appreciable features.

Here Are New Security Features Of UBER 

Unexpected Route Notification 

The new update in UBER’s ride check will help the customers to keep a check on the driver’s route. This feature will notify the customer when the driver will take an unexpected route or unexpectedly ends the trip before the rider’s final destination.

24×7 Safety Line

Uber has also enhanced its customer service and immediate assistance. Now, Uber’s safety line will be available 24×7 for the riders and customers while on the trip and up to 30 minutes after the trip ends. 

Uber said that experts from Uber’s twin support centers in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam are available round the clock for support and answer 99 percent of incoming calls “within the first 30 seconds”.

Seatbelt Reminder 

The Indian government made it mandatory to wear rear seat belts after the tragic death of former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry in September. And abiding by the same, Uber will send an audio rear seat belt reminder for riders on the driver’s phone along with a push notification on the rider’s phone.

SOS Integration

Apart from all three new security features of Uber mentioned above, the fourth one is equally great. Uber has launched an SOS Integration with the local police stations. And by using the features, the riders will be able to immediately share critical information like live location. 

The feature has gone live in Hyderabad already and will be soon made available in other metro cities too.
