Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes has cancelled the rest of his world tour to focus on  his mental health.

The pop star announced it through an Instagram post  on Wednesday.

Shawn Mendes kicked off his world tour in support of his latest album, Wonder, at  the end of June.

The World tour was scheduled to continue all the way through next summer.

The 23-year-old singer wrote that, "After working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear for me that I need  to take the time."

He also said, "I have never taken it personally to ground myself & come back stronger,"

"I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America & Europe," Mendes added.

This includes four dates in Canada: two shows in Toronto on July 31 & Aug. 2, & two shows in Montreal on Aug.  15 & 16.

Shawn further said,"I promise I will be back as soon as I've taken the right time to heal".

Earlier this month, he said that he would be taking a three-week break from the tour, postponing his shows  in the US.
