As per the media reports, eminent actress and BJP leader Sonali Phogat, 41, has died due to a heart attack on Monday night in Goa. Sonali, known for her acting skills, during the assembly elections in Haryana in 2019, contested as a BJP candidate from Adampur assembly, against the heavyweight leader Kuldeep Bishnoi.

Born in Bhuthan Kalan village, Fatehabad in Haryana, Sonali completed her schooling from Hisar. Her father is a farmer. Appearing as an anchor in a Haryanavi show on Doordarshan in 2006, Sonali made her debut in the Television industry. Furthermore, in 2008, she officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and was made the national vice president of the party’s Mahila Morcha.
In 2014, Sonali made a wild-card entry in Big Boss Season 14. Apart from a lot of TV shows, she was even featured in a Haryanvi music video Bandook Aali Jaatni in 2019. She contested against Kuldeep Bishnoi (a former Congress leader, now in BJP) in 2019 Haryana assembly elections from Adampur, but lost by a margin of 29,471 votes.
Controversies linked to Sonali:
During the 2019 assembly elections of Haryana, a video of Sonali Phogat went viral on social media, where she was asking people to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, adding that those who aren’t chanting, maybe from Pakistan. Her statement led to a huge controversy, and later on she had to apologise.
Even on June 5, 2020, in a video, she was seen slapping an official named Sultan Singh, using her slippers and making some derogatory remarks against him.
Death of Sonali Phogat:
As per the latest news reports, Sonali lost her life on Monday night in Goa due to a heart attack. Surprisingly, just before her death, she updated her profile picture on Instagram and Twitter, where she was seen wearing a purple turban. Sonali’s sudden death has caused a wave of shock in the Bollywood industry and the political space.
