The upcoming Bollywood movie Sooryavanshi is all set to finally hit the theatres after a really long wait. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, while Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Ajay Devgn as Singham in important roles.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi will be released on 2nd April, 2021 in single screen and non-national multiplexes in India.
As per reports, the team has already sent mails to the owners of single screens and multiplexes to block the screens for Sooryavanshi’s grand release.
Talking about the film’s release, a trade source said, ‘Reliance Entertainment, who is producing and distributing the film, has started blocking screens in West Bengal, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh belt. The e-mails to block the screens for at-least two weeks have been sent to the single screen owners, and they have readily agreed to allot all shows on all their screens to this Rohit Shetty cop drama. The screen booking in other circuits of India is expected to commence from this week. All said and done, it’s confirmed for a theatrical release on April 2.’
This upcoming bollywood movie is definitely a much awaited project as it was waited more than an year for its release. It was supposed to hit the they in 2020, but lockdown made the plans turn other way. While other directors decided and released their movies on various OTT Platforms, the makers of Sooryavanshi made it clear that they will only release the movie in theatres, no matter how long it takes.
But if we talk about its expected grossing across India, the ongoing Farmers Protest in India might affect its response especially in Punjab. As the people in Punjab are talking about completely boycotting Bollywood. We did a poll on our Instagram Story (@kiddaan) which asked you guys,
‘Is Punjab going to Ban or Watch Sooryavanshi?’
And the response had a huge difference, as 94% of the voters chose to Ban it, while 6% are thinking of watching it.
Let us know what you think of this. Do you think Sooryavanshi will be able to fill it’s pockets from Punjab?
