Congress Interim Chief Sonia Gandhi Slams Centre, Calls Modi Govt As “Self Obsessed”

Adding that India has made exemplary achievements in the last 75 years and left an incredible mark on the international arena in all the fields, Sonia Gandhi, the interim president of the Congress party has attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government during, calling it a “self obsessed” government, and accusing it of “trivialising” the freedom fighters of India. 

Sonia Gandhi’s remark came a day after the BJP released a video showing a series of events responsible for the partition of India, accusing the top Congress leadership for partition, showing former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s pics.

The Congress party even lashed out at the Karnataka BJP for excluding Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s pictures from the newspaper advertisements showing the freedom fighters of Independence. The grand-old-party has said that the action of the BJP is “highly-pathetic”. 

Mrs. Gandhi even added that India has successfully built a free, fair, and transparent election system under the guidance of its visionary leaders, and also enhanced the democracy and constitutional institutions. 

In her message Independence Day, Mrs. Gandhi said, “Friends, we have accomplished great achievements in the last 75 years, but today’s self-obsessed government is bent on trivialising the great sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the glorious achievements of the country, which can never be accepted at any cost.”

She further added that the Indian National Congress would vehemently oppose any attempt to falsely accuse revered figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The video released by the BJP has once again ignited the never ending political tussle between the Congress and BJP.
