Fact Check: Did Shah Rukh Khan Spit On Lata Mangeshkar’s Funeral Ceremony? Twitter Is Divided

India bore an irrecoverable loss as Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on 6 February aged 92. The Legendary singer’s health suddenly deteriorated and she lost the battle with life due to COVID-19 complications, pneumonia and a multi-organ failure. The Nightingale of India’s last rites were performed at Shivaji Park, Mumbai. From national politicians to Bollywood superstars, everyone came to bid farewell to one of the greatest singers in World History.

However, from the funeral ceremony of Lata Mangeshkar, a video of Shah Rukh Khan went viral over social media and it left the public stunned! The public claimed that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was allegedly seen ‘spitting’ on Lata Ji’s mortal remains during the funeral ceremony. Twitter was left shocked and lashed out at Shah Rukh Khan for his actions.

But, it was the other side of Twitter that came in Shah Rukh’s defense and explained what he was actually doing. Netizens pointed out that Shah Rukh Khan was not actually spitting, but “blowing air”. They stated that it was an Islamic ritual performed on the last rites to ward off the evil spirits or ‘Satan’.

This way, Twitter was left divided on whether Shah Rukh actually spit on Lata Ji’s mortal remains or was he just blowing air to perform an Islamic ritual to ward off evil. This sparked a huge controversy on social media.

In addition to the controversy, a picture of Shah Rukh reading a dua and his manager Pooja Dadlani standing with folded hands, praying for Lata Ji also went viral. Netizens said that it highlighted the true beauty of India as both, Islamic as well as Hindu prayers were being performed by Shah Rukh & his manager side by side for the Legendary Singer.
