Gurmeet Ram Rahim & Four Other Convicted In Former Dera Manager Ranjit Singh’s Murder Case

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim found guilty with his other four accused Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, Avtar Singh and Sabdil in Ranjit Singh murder case by special CBI court in Panchkula and said that the quantum of sentence will be pronounced on October 12, i.e. next Tuesday.

Ranjit Singh, a former follower of Ram Rahim, was shot dead by four assailants on July 10, 2002, in Kurukshetra after he allegedly “raised his voice” against the self-styled godman, who is currently lodged at the high-security Sunaria jail in Rohtak.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had on August 24 restrained the special CBI judge in Haryana’s Panchkula from pronouncing the verdict in the Ranjit Singh murder case. Jagseer Singh, the son of the deceased Ranjit Singh had sought the transfer of the case to another CBI court in Punjab, Haryana, or Chandigarh on the ground that the presiding judge conducting the trial was unduly influenced by the accused through a public prosecutor of CBI.

Now, the CBI special court in Panchkula has convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and four other co-accused under Section 302 (murder) of IPC.

Meanwhile, sect chief has been in jail for 20 years of imprisonment since his conviction in August 2017 for raping two disciples. Also, Over two years back, the sect head was also awarded life imprisonment for the murder of a journalist, Ram Chander Chhatrapati.
