After Diwali on Friday, people living in the national capital region and Delhi woke up to a smoggy morning with a thick layer of smog permeating through the air due to the burning of firecrackers. According to data produced by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Friday, this year saw the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi drop to the worst in five years. A thick blanket of smog shrouded the skies of Delhi, as several people complained of an itchy throat and watery eyes.

Many people shared the photos on social media and showed the before and after effects of Diwali in Delhi.

One of the twitter users shared a picture showing the situation in Noida before and after Diwali.

Further, not just Noida, the effect of pollution is seen everywhere in Delhi.

Also, the nationwide air quality index (AQI) shows that multiple cities across India, too, continue to be in poor shape with as many as seven of them in Uttar Pradesh and the rest in Haryana. Not only burning crackers but there are several other reasons too that have contributed to increase in the level of pollution.
